Ajmal is currently an Adjunct Professor at Pratt Institute School of Architecture, Associate Director of the Center for Experimental Structures, where he is researching, experimenting, exploring new inventions - radical redesigns for the built environment, with a focus on next generation product development, ranging from Ag-Tech, Clean-Tech, & Urban-Tech.  Prior to the pandemic, Ajmal had served as the Director of Advanced Technologies at Boyce Technologies Inc., with his strategic design & innovation background, Ajmal developed & established the robotics / plastics division, specifying & integrating the industrial robots, configuring the robots onto the manufacturing floor, & building the team responsible for operating the industrial robots. The technological landscape provided a rapid prototyping space to produce innovative solutions and to better serve the clients & demanding project schedules.  Ajmal started his career in architecture, working for the world-renowned firm SOM, followed by co-founding his award winning design practice form-ula, working on architecture projects that pushed computational workflows for more efficient/sustainable building designs.  Ajmal is currently developing a new approach to automating construction with an focus to promote collaborative environment between human & robot.   Ajmal has a Masters of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University - Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation and Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute, School of Architecture.

Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pratt Architecture

Responsible for 24 credits/load yearly within the Undergraduate  program at Pratt Institute, teaching topics related to Architectural Design, Environmental Design, Materials & Assembly, Building Systems & Construction, Robotics, Fabrication & Morphology.

Sept 2012 - Current

Associate Director: Center for Experimental Structures

Responsible for directing funded research at the W.E.T Lab at Pratt, scaling research topics into product development, with an agenda of Crafting “Futures” to Preserve & Promote Life. Next Gen developments in Urban-Tech, Ag-Tech, Clean-Tech, & Eco-Tech.

June 2017 - Sept. 2019

Director of Advanced Technologies, Boyce Tech Inc.

Responsibilities included establishing BTI’s robotics division & plastics division,  to support a wide range of 6-Axis robotic applications for production and product development needs.  BTI is a vertically integrated R&D space, where engineers are coupled with 150,000 sq ft of advanced equipment - capable of low volume production.

Researcher at Milgo-Bufkin for Dr. Haresh Lalvani / Assisted in developing AlgoRythms Technologies X-Surf Series / Coordinated the production of digital assets for design parts with the factory / Fabricated and assembled design parts at the factory production.
