"Interested in Building the Future"
Ajmal is currently an Adjunct Professor at Pratt Institute School of Architecture, Associate Director of the Center for Experimental Structures, where he is researching, experimenting, exploring new inventions - radical redesigns for the built environment, with a focus on next generation product development, ranging from Ag-Tech, Clean-Tech, & Urban-Tech. Prior to the pandemic, Ajmal had served as the Director of Advanced Technologies at Boyce Technologies Inc., with his strategic design & innovation background, Ajmal developed & established the robotics / plastics division, specifying & integrating the industrial robots, configuring the robots onto the manufacturing floor, & building the team responsible for operating the industrial robots. The technological landscape provided a rapid prototyping space to produce innovative solutions and to better serve the clients & demanding project schedules. Ajmal started his career in architecture, working for the world-renowned firm SOM, followed by co-founding his award winning design practice form-ula, working on architecture projects that pushed computational workflows for more efficient/sustainable building designs. Ajmal is currently developing a new approach to automating construction with an focus to promote collaborative environment between human & robot. Ajmal has a Masters of Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University - Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation and Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute, School of Architecture.
